There have been about a dozen routes and a couple of businesses added to the iPhone app this week. We still need some good local routes.
A quick update on our apps and new website. Our Droid app is coming along nicely. There are some features I believe you will really like. Still on track for mid-July. The new website is looking good as well. It is moving slower as I am more involved this time around, mostly as a learning curve. More to follow………
Last week I mentioned an announcement of changes coming to Motorcycle-Maps.
Due to a variety of reasons, rider input, business responses, etc. we will not be doing any additional paper maps for 2012. We are going to take the time to ramp up our social media pages as well as apps on the iPhone and development of a Droid version. While it was a tough decision, from the beginning, we have said we want to grow in the direction riders want us to go. While we put out about 160,000 maps for AL, GA and NC in the past two years, rider input says we need to focus on the electronics for a while and grow that part of the business. So that is the direction we are going to take.
We will be shutting down the present website and going to a simpler, more riders friendly/interactive format. As a result our on-line store will close down. Paper maps will be available through eBay as long as the present inventory lasts.
We will continue to seek mom and pops for the apps as well as input on good ride routes across the country. We all know the big ride routes, we want to know more about YOUR local rides so we can share with others.
Know we appreciate your support during this time of transition. We look forward to 2013, getting paper maps back on-line and giving you all a better resource for finding places to go and to ride across this great nation.
We are working on a special project as well for 2013 for the Tarheel State, it is called “Motorcycle-Maps Passport to North Carolina”. We are excited about the idea, with the help of David Huff we look forward to providing you more detail in the coming months.
Thanks for taking the ride with us. Dennis
